Project: Health and Sanitation: Technical assistance in the free distribution of food to the most disadvantaged people Activity: Health and Sanitation Product: Food health Geographic data: Madrid, España Start date: February 2016 End date: March 2017 As part of the Aid Program for the most disadvantaged individuals, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (MAGRAMA), through the Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA), distributes 113 million kilos of free food to the neediest individuals. The Spanish Red Cross and the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL), distribute the full amount of food throughout the provinces to more than 7,000 Partner Distribution Organizations (PDOs) which, in turn, serve more than 1,800,000 people per year. Tragsatec collaborates to ensure the health quality of the food, coordinating the removal and replacement of food that must be returned, and making sure no food that may pose a health risk reaches the beneficiaries. It also provides a user support service, responding to the inquiries of agrifood companies and distribution and storage centers, regarding the receiving of food and incidents. Finally, it provides the customer a authorized lab in which to conduct analyses on the different products, which allows the quality of these foods to be checked, sending all results and analysis reports on to the customer. Tragsatec has worked with FEGA in this Aid Program since 2005.
