Solidarity Campaigns Food Drive Campaign About 842 million people worldwide go hungry every day. According to the latest report from Cáritas, in Spain alone over 11 million people are at risk for social exclusion, while about 8.5 million tons of food are wasted annually. It is possible to change this situation with everyone’s collaboration. Therefore, among the various possibilities for solidarity, Grupo Tragsa elected to support FESBAL (Federación Española de Bancos de Alimentos) (Spanish Federation of Food Banks), a non-profit association of Public Interest, to bring food staples to the most vulnerable families. Operating under the slogan, “They need us. We are needed,” this is the second year that the company participates in an initiative of this nature within its Corporate Social Responsibility Policy. 58 entire offices have been actively involved in the campaign held on November 11, 12 and 13 of 2014. Thanks to the solidarity of all the employees, almost 9,000 kg of food have been gathered and delivered to Food Banks throughout Spain. In addition, the Management Committee of Grupo Tragsa has approved a donation of 15,000 euros to FESBAL, in response to a request made by the Cooperation Committee. With this donation, the company financially matched the almost 9,000 kg of food contributed by the employees during the II Food Drive Campaign. Company-wide Solidarity Day Grupo Tragsa participated in the eighth edition of Company Solidarity Day (DSE), held on October 25, 2014. DSE promotes social involvement of the companies through corporate volunteers. In 2014 there were over 1,000 volunteers from 46 companies in nine Spanish cities. The team of 10 volunteers from Grupo Tragsa participated in the “Ecological repair and rehabilitation, and environmental workshops in Miraflores de la Sierra (Madrid)”, together with the “Territorios Vivos (Living Territories)” and “Cooperación Internacional (International Cooperation)” NGO’s. “Donate your mobile” Campaign Given the positive response to this initiative by employees of Grupo Tragsa, we continue to support the mobile collection campaign that began in 2008 and was developed jointly with the Spanish Red Cross and the Entreculturas Foundation. On October 31, 2014, various mobile phones were donated, usb modems and GPRS tracks, all of which was corporate material from Grupo Tragsa. From the inception of the collaboration, the number of mobiles donated by Grupo Tragsa was 1,498, and the amount of money raised was over 2,000 euros. The campaign has two objectives: Social action: the revenue generated through the reuse of donated phones is used for projects of the NGO´s. Environmental responsibility: by collecting unused mobiles and promoting their reuse and recycling, this favors environmental conservation.
