Solidarity Campaigns IV Food Collection Campaign For the fourth consecutive year the Tragsa Group has collaborated with the Spanish Food Banks Federation (FESBAL) to collect food and distribute it to those most in need. The IV Food Collection Campaign took place from 25 to 27 October 2016 and involved all of the Group's offices distributed throughout the national territory. The campaign collected 6,300 kilos of non-perishable food (pasta, rice, pulses, sugar, oil, preserves, flour, pasta and milk) that were distributed among local and regional food banks for distribution to families in need in each area. Around 750 kilos of the total was infant food, the most expensive product and the most sought after in food banks. The food collected at the Group’s Madrid headquarters was given to ‘Banco del Bebé’, which specialises in families with children under 4 years of age. FESBAL is a non-profit association that was set up in 1996 and currently encompasses 56 food banks, at least one in each province. In 2010 it was declared an organisation in the public interest and two years later it received the Prince of Asturias Award in recognition of its charitable work. Corporative volunteering For the third consecutive year, the Tragsa Group signed up for Company Charity Day (“Día Solidario de las Empresas”). Organised by the NGO Cooperación Internacional and Atresmedia, the aim is to promote the social commitment of companies by means of volunteering initiatives that act as powerful tools for social and environmental transformation. The Group took part in the event with work teams in La Coruña (22 October), Madrid (12 November) and Seville (19 November). The La Coruña event was held on the beach of As Lapas, where volunteers from the Tragsa Group collected all kinds of waste, and around the Tower of Hercules, where an environmental information and conservation route was organised with the collaboration of Grupo Naturalista Hábitat. The group of volunteers from Madrid, meanwhile, spent the day collecting physical, chemical and biological samples from the Guadalix River, and collecting seeds from native species, with the help of Asociación Territorios Vivos. In Seville, the work team carried out a range of forestry jobs in an area of orchards and crops managed by the non-profit association Amigos del Parque del Alamillo, levelling the land for the future construction of two pond areas forming part of an ecosystem suitable for frogs and other native amphibians. All these activities allowed the volunteers of the Tragsa Group to share opinions and experiences related to the issue of environmental protection. Collaboration with UNHCR After more than 4 years of war, 4 million Syrians are now refugees and another 8 million remain displaced and affected by the ongoing conflict. This emergency has crossed its borders and the desperation of Syrian families is growing. UNHCR (the United Nations Refugee Agency) has been helping those in need in border areas since the emergency started, helping in identification tasks and delivering basic needs such as water, mats and blankets. The Tragsa Group wanted to collaborate with UNHCR by donating the amount corresponding to obsolete computer equipment disposed by Tragsa (1,183.45 euros) and Tragsatec (1,130.55 euros). "In Real Time - Run with Ethiopia" The II edition of the "In Real Time - Run with Ethiopia" charity run held on 15 March 2015 in Tres Cantos (Madrid) saw 244 runners take part in one of the four categories of the initiative, organised by the NGO Abay. The aim of the “In Real Time” project was to improve the sports schools run by the NGO in the Ethiopian region of Walmara. The Tragsa Group also donated sports backpacks to all participants and to the pupils of the Bacho-Walmara school (Ethiopia).
