Cytasa Colonización y Transformación Agraria, S.A., (CYTASA) is a public limited company established in Paraguay, fully owned by TRAGSA. It was incorporated in Asunción (Paraguay) on November 13, 1978, and its corporate purpose is agricultural colonization and transformation, and any prior or follow-up activity, or any activity that is related to these purposes. The company Colonización y Transformación Agraria, S.A., (CYTASA) carries out agricultural and environmental projects focused on conservation of the habitat and development of the indigenous people. Worth highlighting, among its most significant projects, is the sustainable agricultural and forest management in the rural farm "Los Lapachos", a large patch of Atlantic forest in the region of Alto Paraná, which is preserved thanks to innovative projects such as the responsible production of soybeans, oriented toward women from the local rural farming communities, which has succeeded in improving their living conditions. As a result of this activity commissioned by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, through the Biodiversity Foundation, the Tragsa Group received the 2011-2012 European Business Award for the Environment.
