Project: Support for Cross-border health care Activity: Health and Sanitation Product: Public health Geographic data: Madrid, España Start date: July 2014 End date: May 2016 This commission of Tragsatec by the Ministry of Health, is intended to facilitate access to safe, high quality Cross-Border Healthcare and promote cooperation in this area between Spain and other Member States (MSs) of the European Union (EU). This cooperation guarantees the right of patients to the free movement of persons, goods and services in the EU. Accordingly, citizens of other MSs can receive healthcare in Spain (and vice versa), advancing the payment for health care services received and then requesting reimbursement in their country of affiliation. Tragsatec provides support to the Ministry of Health in reviewing guidelines and recommendations for establishing procedures, standards, protocols and methods to ensure cross-border healthcare, and in promoting cooperation in this area between Spain and the other MSs. We provide consulting and support in controlling reimbursements, supervision and control of healthcare providers, and support in outlining, establishing protocol for and monitoring healthcare that requires prior authorization. In addition, we implement health cooperation systems, equally for cooperation and mutual aid, and for the exchange of information on healthcare professionals. Finally, we develop activities related to the recognition of prescriptions, European reference networks, rare disease reporting, European electronic health network and health technology evaluation network; and provide legal advice in the above activities and those relating to the EU, national and regional legislations.
