Project: Technical Support to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment on Plant Health Activity: Health and Sanitation Product: Plant health Geographic data: Madrid, España Start date: December 2014 End date: November 2016 The number of plants and plant products which may be potential carriers of quarantine pests has increased substantially, requiring increased strengthening of Community legislation in this area. At the same time, the new pests, quarantine and non-quarantine, detected in our country as a result of the internal movement of plants and their products continues to grow, which makes it necessary to quickly communicate interceptions to the Commission and the other Member States. In order to respond to these challenges, a diversity of activities need to be carried out in the field of Plant Health, including those of Tragsatec since 2009: -Development of contingency plans, surveying protocols and eradication programs of the most dangerous pests that affect or may affect our crops -Delivering more than 30 training courses and seminars in the Plant Health area on legislation, inspection procedures and recognition of pests, for Plant Health inspectors, including those of the ACs and Border Inspection Posts (BIPs) -Preparation of information campaigns on quarantine pests that pose a great threat to our crops, for farmers and the sector concerned. -Development of the Plant Inspection Procedural Manual for indoor and outdoor Plant Health, which details the system of plant inspections carried out at the BIPs.
