Project: Increase of Food Security in the North of Senegal. Rural Farming Communities Activity: Studies, Technical Support and Consultancy Product: Training, Communication and Events Geographic data: Senegal Start date: December 2010 End date: October 2013 Introduction of Majorera goats in Senegal, creating a pilot farm run by women of the Peul ethnic group in the city of Richard Toll (in the north of the country), for producing milk and selling male goats This project to support women through creating jobs, covered the purchase and transport of the goats from the Canary Islands to Senegal, in addition to building a barn with a milking area, an area for milk processing and rooms for the workers and the guardian. The women in this Economic Interest Group also received training courses on handling goats, cultivating fodder crops to feed the goats, and on milk production and management.
