Project: Urban solid waste collection at the Town Hall of Padrón (A Coruña) Activity: Agricultural Production, Fisheries and Food Services Farming Product: Management and treatment of waste Geographic data: Padrón, A Coruña, España Start date: April 2011 End date: April 2011 This project summarizes the Group's ability, as an instrument of the local government, to intervene in a situation of social emergency. To immediately tackle the work, each of the 4 consecutive times that the Group's intervention was required in the urban area of Padrón and the surrounding parishes, the necessary means were sought to eliminate all of the urban solid waste at one time, and in the shortest possible time. The collection of urban solid waste was carried out at night and first thing in the morning on holidays so as not to obstruct traffic or disturb the inhabitants of the town. The jobs required three simultaneous loading teams with 4 workers reporting to a supervisor, who had a rear-loading garbage truck to facilitate the collection and 6 tubs with canopies and lids sealed with polyurethane foam, so that the collection teams did not have to wait. Three smaller-sized trucks were also used, so as to facilitate their manoeuvring through the old town and narrow streets. The final transport of the waste to the SOGAMA recycling station in the municipality of Cerceda (A Coruña), was carried out under the continuous supervision of a TRAGSA technician responsible for controlling the unloading and weights using status summaries.
