Plant Health Activities carried out in the field of plant health have the aim of protecting plants and their products against damage caused by pests and diseases, including implementing actions to comply with current laws, and monitoring and controlling production fields, or reporting on the appropriate times to apply treatments. Moreover, these actions are also aimed at preventing the introduction and spreading of pests from other countries through pest risk analyses that identify appropriate mitigation measures, or searching land for possible newly introduced pests and to encourage the export/import of products to minimize the risk of the spreading of pests in destination countries. Similarly, it includes aspects related to the means used in monitoring and pest control to ensure the sustainable use of plant protection products by reducing the risks and effects of their use on human health and the environment, and promoting comprehensive pest management and alternative techniques such as non-chemical methods.
